Russell Watson returning to Birmingham Symphony Hall
Tuesday 31st January 2012, 2:53PM GMT.

Classical BRITs winner Russell Watson is to return to Birmingham Symphony Hall performing some of his most loved songs in his own tribute to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Watson will play Symphony Hall on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Tickets cost £25, £40 and £60, plus booking fees, from www.thsh.co.uk
The programme will include such heart-warming numbers as You’ll Never Walk Alone, Men of Harlech, Land of Hope and Glory and Rule, Britannia!
For this tour, Russell will be joined by special guest singer Laura Wright, whose debut album, The Last Rose, topped the classical charts last year.
They will be accompanied by the London Concert Orchestra under the baton of Robert Emmery.
With five albums each going gold, platinum or double platinum and four Classical BRIT Awards under his belt, Russell Watson is recognised globally
as one of the UK’s biggest-selling artists.
A dynamic and inspirational talent, he has also been on the judging panel of the BBC 1 hit show Last Choir Standing, starred in the Royal Variety
Performance and headlined at the Llangollen Eisteddfod.
Commenting on this concert Russell Watson said: “I am thrilled to be offered this opportunity to perform across the country and to personally celebrate
through performance the wonderful occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.”

Singer set to sell out
Published on Friday 27 January 2012 13:54
OPERA star Russell Watson can be confident of a sell-out audience for his second Hartlepool concert as almost all tickets have been snapped up already.
More than 800 tickets for Hartlepool Male Voice Choir’s summer concert featuring tenor Russell have been sold five months ahead of the performance in June
Tickets were due to go on general sale through Hartlepool Tourist Information Centre from Tuesday, February 7.
Only around 50 seats are currently left after the choir was bombarded with advance bookings.
The choir will be responsible for selling the remaining tickets.
Russell, known as The Voice, will perform alongside the male voice choir at The Borough Hall on the Headland on Saturday, June 16.
It will be his second appearance in Hartlepool after first wowing an 800-strong audience with the male voice choir two years ago.
Duncan Graham, chairman of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir, said: “The choir has always taken orders during January and towards the end of the month we pass on any unsold to
the Tourist Information Centre but this year it’s gone berserk.
“The choir has also grown in size where we now have 80 members and a lot of people have approached members for tickets.
“Over 800 tickets have gone and there are abut 50 left.
“I’m glad that we have sold the tickets, but I’m sorry that some people will be disappointed.”
A total of 889 music fans will pack into the Borough Hall to see Russell, 45.
Although most of the tickets have been sold, organisers are expecting a small number to become available through returns and cancellations nearer the date.
Previously, the choir has sold around half to two thirds of tickets for the popular celebrity concerts themselves before giving the remainder to the Hartlepool TIC.
Aled Jones and Lesley Garrett have performed alongside the choir in hit shows in the last few years.
People should contact choir members to inquire about remaining tickets.

From Today's Telegraph...
Russell Watson's Sydney
The opera singer Russell Watson
Interview by York Membery
8:00AM GMT 22 Jan 2012
WHY SYDNEY?
It's an incredibly cosmopolitan city – a bristling, "alive" sort of place, and in this respect it is rather like New York, but is a bit more homely. Plus it has the harbour, the bridge, the Opera House – and the most fantastic weather.
ANYTHING SPECIAL I SHOULD PACK?
Shorts, T-shirts, sunglasses, sun block – and that's pretty much it. The area around the harbour is very laid-back and I've never been turned away from anywhere for being dressed casually.
WHAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU DO?
Go for a stroll by the harbour, take in the view – and then find a tennis coach and have a game outdoors in the sunshine.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO STAY?
I've stayed at a couple of hotels, but my favourite has to be the Four Seasons (0061 2 9250 3100; fourseasons.com; doubles from £154), which boasts such magnificent views of the city.
WHERE WOULD YOU MEET FRIENDS FOR A DRINK?
If you take a stroll by the harbour you will find all sorts of trendy bars in which to meet friends, but the one I use most when I'm in town is probably the bar at the Four Seasons.
WHICH IS THE BEST PLACE FOR LUNCH?
It's got to be Doyles on the Beach (9337 2007; doyles.com.au; Marine Parade). The fish and chips there are terrific – so much better than they are in the UK where they seem to be about the grease.
AND FOR DINNER?
The last time I was there I went to The Cut (Argyle St; 9259 5695; cutbarandgrill.com), where the food was just astonishing.
WHERE WOULD YOU SEND A FIRST-TIME VISITOR?
The city's most iconic feature has to be the Opera House. It doesn't matter whether you attend a performance, it's just an astonishing piece of architecture. I've sung there a few times and while acoustically it's not the best in the world, it's still one of the world's handful of dream venues.
WHAT SHOULD I AVOID?
I was pretty disappointed by Bondi Beach, which I thought was hugely commercialised. Watch out for the extremely strong sun, too . You can go for an hour's walk and end up looking like a lobster.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING HOME?
It has to be a boomerang, doesn't it? You can buy them pretty much everywhere in Sydney – and they're painted in all sorts of great patterns and colours. Just make sure you get one that comes back.
ANYWHERE THAT ISN'T YOUR KIND OF TOWN?
I must admit that I was disappointed by all the graffiti in Rome last time I visited. I can't believe the locals would disfigure their beautiful city in such a way.

Russell's Special New Suit
21st December 2011
The Projection Studio
Russell Watson Performs his Christmas Concert in the First 'Singing' Suit
Legendary English tenor Russell Watson, who has consistently topped the classical charts over the last 10 years, was back in the news this week when he performed at the Festival Hall
with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a spectacular Christmas concert.
For the occasion the legendary voice had a special wardrobe made by Souster & Hicks – the renowned tailors to the stars who made him the first ever 'singing' suit.
The handsome tenor who has survived two brain tumours, commissioned the top tailors to make him a 'singing' suit that allows his chest to expand and contract while performing. Russell, 43,
had complained he felt too constricted and uncomfortable in made to measure suits so he ordered Souster & Hicks – based in Savile Row and Woburn – to create a unique ergonomic design that
allows him to belt out the top notes while keeping his jacket firmly in place on his shoulders and at his waist.
Russell said: "I needed a very special and individual suit so I contacted top tailor Geoff Souster. The man is a genius, he created a special design which allows me to perform comfortably and feel
fabulous at the same time."
Tailor to the stars, Geoff Souster (60), formerly responsible for Lenny Henry´s colourful suits, Noel Edmunds' wardrobe which includes a striking new suit for his forthcoming Christmas TV
special and fellow crooner Michael Bublé's get up said: "Hand crafted bespoke suits have a loose canvas in the front forepart rather than a fusible canvas which is stuck onto the cloth, like
most ready-made suits.
"This not only gives a softer feel but enables us to build dome-like shape into the chest area of the jacket. This is done partly by the cutting for Russell where the front dart is opened up and
a neck dart – hidden under the lapel – also throws fullness into the chest area.
"Each of Russell's suit takes a minimum of 50 hours to make. They are crafted out of the finest cloth, feature contrasting silk linings in an array of bright colours and extraordinary detailingincluding the Souster & Hicks' trademark – the angled cuff. This however was our very first 'singing' suit."

St Martin’s Ampleforth Junior School Choir
The pupils of St Martin’s Ampleforth School are celebrating reaching the semi-finals of the BBC Songs of Praise, Junior School Choir of the Year Competition 2012.
The school choir is one of six UK junior school choirs to reach the semi-finals, which are due to be filmed in Manchester in February 2012 ready for broadcast, on Songs of Praise, in April.
For the initial audition, the choir recorded the inspirational song: “When the Saints Go Marching In” and the hymn “The Lord is my shepherd” with a solo by chorister Rupert Waley.
“I am really excited about singing the solo” said Rupert “but I am also very nervous”.
“It is a great achievement for the choir to reach the semi-finals” said headmaster, Mr Nicholas Higham, “It is wonderful that the hardwork of the children and the two choirmasters,
Mr. Conyngham and Mr. Little, has been recognised in this way.”
The School Choir of the Year competition is celebrating its 10th year and the judges for the 2012 competition will be Russell Watson, Suzi Digby, and David Grant.

WORLD famous opera singer Russell Watson is to make a return performance in Hartlepool.
The tenor, known as The Voice, made his first visit to the town last year when he sang to 850 adoring fans with the Hartlepool Male Voice Choir.
Now the choir has announced that Russell is to make a repeat visit as the star of their summer celebrity concert next June.
Duncan Graham, chairman of Hartlepool Male Voice choir, said: “We’re delighted. He was very keen to come back. He said ‘any time you want me back I will come.’
“He is available so we booked him.
“Russell was on his comeback trail when he performed with us last year and he was fantastic then.
“I think he has got even better.”
Russell’s first concert at the Borough Hall on the Headland sold out in just 10 days, and the choir is expecting next year’s show to be just as popular.
Russell, who has sold millions of records worldwide sang alone and also with the choir.
The audience even joined in with patriotic favourites Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.
Next year’s concert will take place on Saturday, June 16, again at the Borough Hall.
Tickets will go on sale to the public in February.

south Liverpool setting, which is run by the National Trust.
Concert-goers will be encouraged to bring their own picnics to the Last Night Of The Proms event on Monday, June 4.
A huge firework display will culminate a patriotic evening of classics including Jerusalem, Land Of Hope And Glory and Rule Britannia.

hopefully it will be the first of many.
“We thought it was a great idea to tie it in with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
“It is fabulous for Liverpool and really great for the south of the city as well.”
Watson, dubbed “the People’s Tenor”, will perform alongside the Manchester Camarata Orchestra.

Another review, this one from The New Straights Times for the concert in Malaysia, again with pictures
English tenor Russell Watson was next to enthrall with his lush operatic tone.
The timing of his vocals with the music was extremely on point, showcasing his perfect chemistry with the band.
Engaging the crowd with his charm and wit, Watson had everyone in giggles with his playful demeanour.

The next ‘friend’ was Russell Watson. He’s known as an english tenor who has an incredible moving carreer story against his medical condition years ago,
just like what he told in his bestselling autobiography titled ‘Finding My Voices’. Russell sang his single “Because We Believe” then showed an entertainingly
interactive act with audience in “Volare”. Foster then showed us that Watson’s not only capable of his tenor style by asking him to sing James Brown’s “I Feel Good”.
Together they shone brightly on stage. Watson ended his performance with Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up” and the classically arousing “Nessun Dorma

Russell got a brief mention in this review for the concert in Jakarta ,it had to be translated by google & the link is too long

Warmth was brought by David Foster that night. He is not only good at playing music, but with humility and playful, David can create an atmosphere like at home..
Time after time he interacted with the audience, down from the stage addressing the audience, whether young or the same age as himself. David can put him as a
grandfather, friend or father in their interactions. Kesan seperti keluarga besar pun dapat dirasakan di tempat konser. Impression of such a large family can be felt at the venue.
. The concert continued with the appearance of Russell Watson who brought several hits such as Because We Believe, I Feel Good, and You Raise Me Up,
